We've been having problems with 71.9Hz CTCSS for the last month. This issue has now been resolved.

Logic Update

Visited the repeater this week and fitted an updated logic processor.

I have now set up the CTCSS encode so that the 71.9Hz tone is present until after the signal strength pips, this means if you have CTCSS muting enabled on your radio then you will now hear the signal strength before your squelch closes.

I = INTERMEDIATE . .
W = WEAK . - -

Here we are, it's almost Christmas and we have been on-air for 12 months. Thanks to all our users for their support.

There are a few plans in the pipeline such as updating the SLE Mk2 logic to the latest version, this will allow us to send signal strength pips before teh CTCSS encode is dropped. We have also considered the idea of internet linking (via a radio link), maybe that will happen in 2008.

Elvaston Castle 2007

GB3NM is now in service since 1200hrs today.

Installation & Testing

The equipment was installed on site today. The repeater has been running for several hours on and off which allowed us to iron out a few minor bugs. If all goes according to plan then it will be in full service by the end of the month.

We are using a commercial spec radio with 12.5kHz bandwidth receiver so stations will need to use the "narrow" 2.5kHz deviation setting. In practice, anyone with higher deviation may sound a little rough, or in extreme cases, drop out of the receiver completely on speech peaks.

Group Meeting

NOV Issued

The repeater NOV has now been issued.

It is anticipated the repeater will be operational by 3^rd February 2007.

Equipment update

The radio and logic controller is now completed and undergoing soak tests.
Equipment comprises of:

Nokia BSR-450LN UHF base station.
G1SLE MK2 Logic Controller.
G4IRX GSM-DTMF interface.

Next stage is to start work on the duplexer.

Progress Report

Our proposal has now reached the Primary User stage, the PU in this case being the MOD.

Unfortunately the timescale for this stage is not yet known.

Proposal Submitted

A proposal to re-licence the GB3NM 70cm repeater has been submitted on behalf of the Nottingham Amateur Radio repeater Group.

The repeater will be located at a new site in Mapperley, IO92KX, close to the previous site at Ransom Gardens.

Power output will be 5W ERP to a vertically polarized omni-directional aerial.

Initial access will be either by 71.9Hz CTCSS or 1750Hz tone burst.
